Overview

The Planning Commission was established in November of 1979 by Ordinance Number 3237, under the direction of Article V, Section 5.1 of the City Charter. Goals/Duties: It is the duty of this board to receive applications for amendments, changes, and revisions of the zoning district map, and the rules, regulations, and provisions of the zoning regulations of the City Council, hold public hearings, and make recommendations to the City in regard to such applications as provided in the zoning regulations. The Board also recommends to the City Council and other appropriate public officials means and methods of promoting and carrying out the City plan and necessary revision and changes in the City plan. The Board consists of seven members, consisting of seven citizens of the City of Nevada, MO, one City Council member as appointed by the Council, and the City Building Inspector or City Engineer, whichever is designated by the City Manager.
